Flax Seed
Do you have high blood pressure (aka hypertension)? If you do, then you are one of the over 70 million adult Americans diagnosed with high blood pressure. A fat and salt enriched diet leading to high cholesterol levels is said to be the culprit to a persistently high systolic or diastolic reading. Sad to say, only around 60% of hypertensive cases ever consider treatment with a mere 30% of them able to keep up with 120/80 blood pressure. It would come easy to advise hypertensive individuals to cut down meat consumption and become a vegetarian for a while. So if you want a more subtle treatment for hypertension, or perhaps do not want to be dependent on antihypertensive drugs, then get by with a daily dose of ground flax seed. Subject the flax seed to a moderate grind so you will get fresh flax seed oil and the benefits from the healthy goodness of Omega 3, fibers, and lignans. Simply sprinkle the ground, or milled, flax seed over food and beverages and you are on your way to a nutritious and heart-healthy lifestyle.
